It's been a fairly hot summer, and we welcome the cooler temperatures that arrive with the onset of autumn. There are so many great opportunities to get out and enjoy the lovely fall weather and scenery, including some of our favorite annual events such as Swiss Days, Miner's Day, and Autumn Aloft. 

Keep in mind that these events may be subject to change depending on weather and other circumstances, so make sure to keep an eye on things through the provided links. In the meantime I look forward to seeing you out and about!

MIDWAY SWISS DAYS
Midway Town Square  |  Sept 2nd - 3rd

Crowds in the thousands are expected to visit Midway to celebrate Swiss Days, an annual tradition since the 1940s and the town's most eagerly anticipated event.

SOLDIER HOLLOW SHEEPDOG CLASSIC
Soldier Hollow Nordic Center  |  Sept 2nd - 5th  |  Midway

Don't miss four days of exciting competition that lures thousands of dog-loving spectators annually to the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. The event showcases the world’s top working sheepdogs and handlers, and that’s just the beginning! There's also a dog diving competition and a full array of booths and food trucks. Learn more!
 

PARK CITY MINERS' DAY  Various Locations in Old Town |  September 5th

The term "Labor Day" has long since been renamed Miner's Day along the Wasatch Back, as we celebrate our mining heritage in a uniquely "Park City Style" event. It's such a fun day for locals. Don't miss the Running of the Balls or the Mucking and Drilling mining demonstrations. They are truly one of a kind!

PARK CITY SONG SUMMIT

Over the course of three days, the Song Summit combines the singer-songwriter format of an unplugged platform with a MasterClass meets TED-style information exchange. Enjoy intimate conversations and performances by over three dozen artists including Andrew Bird, Father John Misty, Fred Armisen, Fruit Bats, Jason Isbell, Josh Ritter, and Mavis Staples to name a few!  ParkCitySongSummit.com
 

AUTUMN ALOFT  Various Locations in Park City  |  September 17th - 18th

Autumn Aloft is a visual delight for spectators who welcome sunrise with an up close and personal 'on-field' event where attendees wander among the delightfully colorful balloons as they inflate on the "North 40" field directly behind Park City's Treasure Mountain Middle School. It's a visual kaleidoscope, but remember, the mornings are chilly! Layer up, and don't forget your sunglasses. A map of the launch event venue can be viewed here.


The Evening Candlestick on Main Street​
Saturday evening's Candlestick event will be located in Historic Park City on Main Street between 4th and 5th streets. In this event, balloons inflate at dusk, creating a colorful glow. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early, and enjoy the many shops and restaurants in the Historic District. Tethered rides may be available on a first come, first serve basis but are not guaranteed as early evening thermals sometimes have a mind of their own.

HIKE FOR HUNGER
Canyons Village  |  September 17th

Hike for Hunger is an outdoor adventure event that raises awareness of hunger and food insecurity in Summit and Wasatch counties. This event takes place on the beautiful trails of Park City and features outdoor fun, food, music, and more for the whole family!  Info here!

 
MIDWAY VOLKSMARCH FESTIVAL
Midway Town Square | September 17th

Volksmarching is a European tradition that involves people of all ages walking through the historic district and to current conservation projects, which brings people together and celebrates what makes Midway so charming. The tradition began as a way to raise awareness of the need to protect the rural and agricultural feel of Midway.  Info here!

 
PEACE HOUSE
MARCH ON MAIN

Peace House  |  700 Round Valley Drive

Join the Peace House for March on Main, an annual event held in October during domestic violence awareness month. Register in advance. Peace House will have signs for you to carry and an inspirational program before the march up Main Street in Park City. More info.

 
LIVE PC/GIVE PC
November 4th

Every November, Live PC Give PC brings Park City and Summit County together for 24 hours of extreme generosity. This giving day has raised millions of dollars for local nonprofits over the past 12 years. Whether you live, work, stay, or play here, you benefit from local nonprofits. Every year on Labor Day Weekend, the country's strongest endurance mountain bike racers drop in on some of the best trails Park City has to offer. Whether you're someone who rides the trails regularly or an out-of-towner, this 75 mile single-track race is guaranteed to please.

LABOR DAY BOOK SALE

10 am - 4 pm 

Shop thousands of of gently used books for all ages and genres at the Friends of the Library Labor Day book sale. Books range from $1-$2.

Proceeds from the book sale support the Friends of the Library’s mission to raise funds to enrich Library offerings and services. More info.

 


TOUR DES SUDS
City Park to Guardsman  |  Sept 11th


Tour des Suds is back! This is a 7-mile mountain bike climb starting at City Park. Go hard and treat it like a legit mtb race (yes, there are awards), or a crazy costume party on bikes. Either way, it’s 2,700′ of vertical rise, from town straight up to the finish line at the top of Guardsman Pass.

MOUNTAIN BEER FESTIVAL
 Deer Valley® Resort  |  Sept 17th - 18th


Sip and sample brews from over a dozen Utah craft breweries at the inaugural Deer Valley Mountain Beer Festival. This one-of-a-kind beer festival includes scenic chairlift access throughout the resort, dining, live music, and a full slate of activities. PARK CITY WINE FESTIVAL

SCARECROW FESTIVAL
McPolin Farm  |  
October 2nd

Build your own scarecrow, displayed for everyone to see, at McPolin Farm. The City provides straw for stuffing, a support along the trail. Bring the items to build your scarecrow including a head, clothing, shoes, props, scissors, and any other fun, funky accessories you can think of! You can also build your scarecrow at home.

ART FOR ALL FUNDRAISER

6th ANNUAL SHOTSKI

​​Raise your glasses for Park City’s 6th annual Shot Ski event, hosted by Park City Sunrise Rotary Club and High West Distillery. Participants will line Park City’s Historic Main Street to throw one back on Saturday, October 15th at 2 pm. It's always a rivalry with Breckenridge, CO - so come help Park City earn the title!

HEBER VALLEY WESTERN MUSIC & COWBOY POETRY

Keeping with tradition, festivities begin Wednesday night at the Midway Town Hall with dinner, great music, and cowboy poetry. The multi-day gathering features some of the very best musicians and poets in the country, like Paul Overstreet, Ned Ledoux, Joni and Olivia Harms, and more!

OKTOBERFEST 50th ANNIVERSARY

Oktoberfest at Snowbird is a family-friendly affair with activities, food, and, of course, brews for days — weeks actually. Snowbird’s Oktoberfest attracts thousands of visitors each year making it one of the largest festivals in Utah.

PUMPKIN TRAIN   Heber Valley Railroad  |  October 7th - 30th

The whole family will enjoy Heber Valley Railroad's annual Pumpkin Train! This trip includes a short, 40-minute train ride where you'll be entertained on board by costumed characters. You'll also get to try a delicious pumpkin cookie, and of course you get to select a pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch! Additional food and snacks will be available for purchase at the depot. Tricks aside, Halloween on Historic Park City's Main Street was named one of the top Halloween celebrations in the country by Travel and Leisure magazine and for good reason!  When you combine two and four-legged costumed creatures with gourmet treats and maybe a few tricks you have a one-of-a-kind celebration. Little ghosts and goblins and their canine companions are invited to Main Street for fun and safe Trick-or-Treating, compliments of participating merchants!
